You know you are redundant when …
… our dogwalker (and friend) comes to take Sophie for a few hours so I can get some things done …
and Sophie starts hopping – yes hopping on her remaining front leg trying to jump up on Angie’s chest. The front door opened, Sophie bolted out – and hopped down the front stairs like she has been a tripawd her whole life. She never even looked back ! I was both ecstatic that she was so mobile and destroyed that she was so enthusiastic to be with someone else – all at the same time. It had taken me all morning to coax her out of my bedroom. My girl has found her wings and she is ready to take off. Thank goodness. I see the light at the end of this dramatic change in our lives. But my confidence is shaken – is my dog depressed with me? Am I somehow hindering her progress? There is no doubt she was feeling MUCH better when she saw Angie. She wouldn’t even look at the breakfast I made her – yes, MADE HER – until Angie sat by her and held the bowl for her. She’d eat for Angie – but not for me …. ย she must be feeling a lot better.

Now you know the true meaning of the Tripawds Tagline! ๐
I doubt Sophie is “depressed” with you. But keep in mind that she will follow your emotional lead. So act like life is perfectly normal and she should start to believe it around you.
Thanks for the great update!

Can totally relate – when Mackenzie first had her surgery, the only person she would get up for was her petsitter whom she loves so much. I remember one day when we were out in the yard and her petsitter pulled up in the car – she hopped across the yard like a bolt of lightning. I never saw her move so fast even on 4 legs. All great signs that Sophie is adjusting to her new life. It is such a wonderful feeling when you see our tripawds getting excited again for life! Good luck with Sophie’s recovery – she sounds like she’s going to do just great as a tripawd.

It sounds like Sophie is bouncing back nicely!
You know, when you’re feeling not so great and someone comes to visit you it often serves as a much needed pick me up, even if you’ve been surrounded by the people you love best all day. Maybe that’s how it was with Sophie when Angie came by – the change of pace and change of scenery might have been just what she needed. ๐ Whatever the reason, we’re sure she’s happy she’s got a mom who loves her so very much! And we’re happy she’s so happy!
Hugs to both of you,
Holly and Holly’s mom
